About
Jen Laurens, Principal & Creative Director
You know the expression you were born for this? Well, one could argue that Jen’s path to interior design was laid out for her at birth.
Jen grew up in an environment with an unusually rich exposure to architecture: Tudors, French and Georgian brick mansions, discreet carriage houses, and mid-century modern structures were the fabric of her childhood.
A fun Sunday afternoon was going on historic home tours with her dad and understanding the nuances of moldings and wainscot, the effect of color on the walls and how art was displayed. Educational? Yes. A bit nerdy? Most definitely.
This upbringing ingrained in Jen both a discerning eye for beauty and the understanding that good design is accomplished when things feel right.
Good design in the home strikes that perfect balance of function and fun.
Jen brings this perspective to every project. She’s is passionate about incorporating the family’s true personality into a space. Have a collection of sheet music that you want to display? Or a prize-winning trout commemorated with lifelike taxidermy skills? Jen wants to know about it and will find a way to make it into your interior designs.

Jen is a firm believer in guidelines, not rules.
With nearly two decades of design experience under her belt, she’s honed in on the belief that your space is a collection of things you love, and should show who you are. But design is also organic. Trends are always changing, and personal seasons and evolving style dictate what you are drawn to.
Tiny Anchor Studios sets up your space to grow with you and be malleable as your life and style evolve.
While she may like to have fun with finishes and accents, Jen’s expertise is rooted in the fundamentals of design. She is a member of the NKBA, has served on the Board of NARI and is a NARI CoTY winner.
Also a lifelong learner, Jen regularly invests in continuing education, from classes in hand drawing to CAD drafting to Residential Structural design. In the ever-changing world of design trends, she stays current by participating in trade exclusive events such as IBS/KBIS, AD, and Coverings.
In addition to running Tiny Anchor Studios, Jen is an avid cook, taco aficionado, and firm believer in celebrating Cinco de Mayo. An enthusiastic traveler, she often seeks out design inspiration from her travels to the West Coast, the Caribbean, and Europe. She lives with four kids, two rescue dogs, and one amazing husband.
Jen’s own home’s design could best be described as the love child of Ethan Allen and Anthropologie.
“When renovating my kitchen, the contractor suggested I contact Jen to help with the design. It was the best decision I made. Jen was wonderful to work with. She guided me on all the decisions, from the design to smart ways to spend my budget. The resulting space is more beautiful and functional than ever before. She created a kitchen that suits our family and completes our home.”
